Walking in the Light

All of us have been part of a secret at one point in our lives. Remember when you were a child and someone would tell you a secret and then you would have a ceremonial swearing that you would never tell anyone and sometimes it involved a finger prick and blood. I am laughing as I remember the times we would do that so we could be blood sisters or brothers. If you are younger than forty you might not understand the blood sister thing. It was something we did when I was growing up and you didn’t want anyone to know your secret. You had to swear and then double swear and sometimes triple swear and then go through the blood pricking ceremony. Sometimes after going through all of that, your blood sister would go ahead and tell your secret anyway to someone else. Continue reading “Walking in the Light”

To Tell the Truth

There used to be a game show called to Tell the Truth. ABC is bringing it back this summer. This show is about three people that are trying to convince you that they are who they say they are. Two are lying and one is telling the truth. The celebrities on the panel ask each contestant a series of questions trying to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth. At the end you find out who the real person is. I used to love to play along and try to figure out who was lying. The contestants seemed to be pretty good at deceiving you. I think the same principle carries over into the world that we live in. It is really hard at times to tell who is lying and who is telling the truth. Continue reading “To Tell the Truth”

My Hope

This picture of Jesus is from a movie called The Matthew Project. The first time I watched it, I was blown away by their representation of Jesus. It was literally the very first time I saw Jesus smiling and laughing in a movie. I cried and cried when I saw it because it touched my heart so much to see Jesus show human emotions. I had such a hard time wrapping my brain around watching Jesus laugh and cry and hug people. I know that this might sound weird to some of you, but this movie opened my eyes to see aspects of Jesus that I had been blind to. My view of Jesus was changed just by watching this movie. Going on a God Hunt

Most of my life I felt like I was missing something. I guess you could say that even though I was a Christian, I really didn’t know who I was following. I knew I didn’t know God and His character even though I professed I did. So I decided that the only way I was going to know my heavenly father was to go on a God hunt. After reading and studying, I have found God to be so much more than I thought He was. I have learned that He wants to be a father to us. He wants to know our dreams, desires and needs. He wants us to tell Him how we feel and what we think. He wants us to know that He wants to be involved in our lives. He also wanted me to see Jesus as the physical representation of Him. My Life: A Lifetime Movie

Have you ever felt like your life was like a movie on the Lifetime Channel? I sure have. I have definitely had enough drama to last a lifetime! HAHA! When I look at some of the people in the Bible, I feel like their lives could also be made into a movie and some even have. The character that fascinates me the most is David; the shepherd boy who became king. His life was full of intrigue, deception, adultery and triumph but despite that, he was a man after God’s heart.
