One of the most important struggles I faced and still face on a daily basis is living in the flesh instead of living in the spirit. What I mean by that is, do I choose to live my day in what I want to do, or do I choose to live my day in what Jesus wants me to do? If I want to live in freedom, then I must choose to live my life every day with the help of the Holy Spirit. This is the fight I face every day. Continue reading “Spirit vs Flesh”

Freedom in Christ
It is almost Easter. This is the time of the year that we celebrate what Christ did on the cross for us. He came to set us free from our sins and He went through an agonizing death in order to give us freedom. He emptied himself and humbled himself to the point of death so we can live in freedom. So, why do we still choose to be enslaved by sin and not walk in freedom? The reason I ask this question is because I looked at Jesus’ death on the cross as my way to heaven for so many years instead of it also being his way for me to live in freedom on this earth. I was in a pit of bondage trying to claw myself out instead of relying on Him to do the work for me. Continue reading “Freedom in Christ”
When I Pray
One of the greatest privileges we have is to be able to go to God with everything that is going on in our lives. We are able to talk to Him and ask for His help with all areas of our lives. There isn’t anything more powerful than going to God in prayer. He has the ability to give us the strength and wisdom that we need to handle our situations.
Because I struggled so much going to my Dad with any issue, it was very hard for me to go to God. I usually handled things myself or didn’t take the time to ask God to help me. I didn’t realize what a bad habit I had gotten myself into. Yes, I prayed, but I didn’t really seek Him and sometimes I didn’t believe He would come through for me. When I started journaling, I would write pages and pages almost every day. Those pages became my prayers to Him. I would write scriptures down and I would ask Him questions about them and also ask Him for help with my unbelief. Continue reading “When I Pray”
One of Life’s Greatest Challenges
“No human relationship can satisfy the deep soul-need you have. A relationship with a man cannot match it, no matter how hard you try. No husband can meet that kind of need for his wife; only Jesus can do that. And that’s the way He wants it.” (David Hagar)
I would like to say to anyone out there that is falling in love or newly in love with someone, Jesus is the only one who can satisfy you. He is the only one who knows you intimately and knows how to meet your needs. Please learn this valuable lesson now. Take the pressure off the person you are in love with. That person will never be able to meet your needs like Jesus can. Do yourself a favor and go to Him and ask Him to meet your needs and not that person. Throw your expectations out the window! There is no human being who is capable of meeting all of your needs. I have had to learn this lesson the hard way. Continue reading “One of Life’s Greatest Challenges”
God-filtered glasses
As I have gotten older, my vision has gotten worse. I noticed the change in my vision during my forties when I started having issues reading things. I would have to hold books as far away as possible to read them, so I gave in to getting “reader” glasses. I had to find the cutest ones I could to offset the need to wear them. Then, my vision for seeing things far away got worse so I had to give in to getting prescription glasses and contacts. My days of seeing things without help were over. I had to have my glasses on or contacts in to see. Continue reading “God-filtered glasses”
