I am a huge fan of the Olympics. When they are on, I watch as much as I can. I not only love to watch the competitions, I love hearing about the individuals that are competing in each sport. Most of the athletes have had to overcome many obstacles to get to where they are today. I like the story behind the athlete almost as much as I do watching them compete. Almost every single one has had to overcome some type of adversity in their lives. When they get the medal for that particular race, it really isn’t just for that race. That medal signifies years and years of training and pain and circumstances they have had to overcome. Continue reading “For Such A Time As This”

Cleaning out the Closet
We all have habits, traditions and like to do things a certain way. I like to have the toilet paper go over not under. (Why would you want it the other way?) I want my house to be clean before I go on a trip. I straighten the pillows on our couch every single day because some family members think letting them go everywhere is okay. I actually drink a whole water bottle and not leave it half empty. (My biggest pet peeve!) You get the idea. Most of these habits I have had for many many years and I can’t see myself changing in these areas anytime in the near future. Continue reading “Cleaning out the Closet”
God is Active
For years I struggled with believing that God was working in my life because I was basing my faith more on my experiences than on God’s word. Even though I had been involved in all sorts of Bible studies throughout my life, I was still relying on my feelings instead of having faith in God’s word. My biggest battle was overcoming those feelings and choosing to believe what His word said instead of my surroundings and experiences. I had to put blinders on and focus on the truth. Young Life….One of God’s Gifts
My husband and I were on vacation last week. We went to Sedona, Flagstaff and Williams Arizona. The main reason we went on this trip was to see our daughter Leah while she was working at a Young Life camp called Lost Canyon. I love Young Life and I love being at Young Life camp! God used this ministry so much in my life in high school, college and into motherhood and it still does. I feel like I am at home when I am at a camp. I love the atmosphere of laughter, love, fun, relationships and of course hearing about kids’ lives being changed by Jesus! I like to sit and watch the kids interact and there is something about being out in His creation that helps me connect even more with Him. I love to reflect and think about all that He has done for me when I look at the trees, mountains, sky, stars, etc. I like to think that heaven will look a little bit like a Young Life camp! Walking in the Light
All of us have been part of a secret at one point in our lives. Remember when you were a child and someone would tell you a secret and then you would have a ceremonial swearing that you would never tell anyone and sometimes it involved a finger prick and blood. I am laughing as I remember the times we would do that so we could be blood sisters or brothers. If you are younger than forty you might not understand the blood sister thing. It was something we did when I was growing up and you didn’t want anyone to know your secret. You had to swear and then double swear and sometimes triple swear and then go through the blood pricking ceremony. Sometimes after going through all of that, your blood sister would go ahead and tell your secret anyway to someone else. Continue reading “Walking in the Light”
